최근 시의회 방문 등을 통해서도 현재의 교통 시스템은 젊은 세대가, 특히 외지인이 시에 오래 머무를 이유가 없게 만든다는 점을 지적한 바 있습니다. 비약일 수는 있으나 현실적인 인프라 문제 등으로 인해 교육과정을 포기하고 이탈하는 경우가 늘어나고 있다는 점 역시 인지하고 있습니다. 시에서 교육기관의 기초 교통 인프라를 수요와 공급의 논리로만 해결하는 것에 대해 본원과 학부 총학생회는 모니터링을 이어나갈 예정임을 공유드립니다.

The UNIST Undergraduate Student Council has been continuing its collaboration with the city (City Hall, bus companies) and maintaining ongoing coordination with the central administrative team since the perception survey on bus routes in May. Given the apparent shifting of responsibility between the metropolitan city's bus transportation department and bus companies, the expectation of a slightly improved bus route reorganization in the second half of the year, and the need for a comprehensive response within the campus, the central administrative team is currently taking a more proactive role in handling this matter. They have been sharing a general progress overview with the executive body.
However, amidst the reluctance of the city and bus companies to directly disclose the proposed changes to bus routes, substantial details have leaked. This is perceived as a genuine agreement between the city and bus companies in the context. It has been noted that this fact has been selectively disclosed through limited meetings (posing as resident persuasion and notification sessions), and the absence of public disclosure regarding proposed new routes in response to the consolidation and closure of various routes has also been confirmed. To make an informed assessment of the situation, the Undergraduate Student Council and the central administrative team need to be aware of the overall facts. Considering UNIST's status as a "glocal" university and the expansion scenarios for bus routes due to its selection, such as the Ulsan Station - UNIST - Ulsan University express route, it is also essential to confirm whether these facts have been taken into account.
With confirmation that the nearest meeting organized by the city (district) is scheduled for the 21st(TUE) 14:00, focusing on Nam-gu, the Central Emergency Response Committee Chair of the central administrative team and the Undergraduate Student Council will participate. The purpose is to visualize the city's blueprint and its actual impact on school transportation. Given the urgent timeline, if unjust transportation disadvantages are identified, it is anticipated that a direct voice can be shared with the members.
Through recent visits to the city council, it has been pointed out that the current transportation system is causing the younger generation, especially outsiders, to have less reason to stay in the city. While acknowledging that there may be leaps in logic, both the central administrative team and the Undergraduate Student Council are committed to monitoring and addressing the issue of the city attempting to solve the basic transportation infrastructure of educational institutions solely based on the logic of supply and demand.
P.S. Confirmation with the central administrative team has been made regarding the physical separation (towards Unyang/ towards downtown) of the boarding terminals within the campus bus stop, and it is in the process of being executed. Detailed implementation plans will be updated in the future.
